A man who has been charged with obtaining money by false pretence was ordered fingerprinted on Wednesday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, and told to return to court on September 11.
He is Carlton Clarke. It is alleged that on the day of the incident, Clarke pretended to be the uncle of a student from a prominent university, which had money for the student in the sum of more than $400,000 that he collected. In court, Clarke denied having obtained the money falsely but explained that he had obtained a large sum of money as a loan from his employers. Subsequent to this, Senior Resident Magistrate Georgiana Fraser ordered that Clarke return to court in September as several other details in relation to the matter are outstanding.
