A Portmore teacher charged with four counts of carnal abuse, is to return to court on September 7 when his case is to be mentioned.

When the case came up before Resident Magistrate Vashti Chatoor in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court the accused man's bail was extended.

His appearance in court arose from allegation that he molested a female student.

The man, who teaches at a high school in St Catherine, is said to have taken the complainant to his home in Portmore where he sexually molested her. It is alleged that he conducted similar acts at other places also.

The Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse charged the teacher after the child started acting strangely.

Her father reportedly told her that she would be medically examined, at which time the complainant revealed that her form teacher had sex with her.

He was subsequently charged by the investigators.
