Jamaica's players were off to a rocky start in the team competition of the 2012 Caribbean Area Squash Association's Senior Championships (CASA), currently under way in Trinidad and Tobago.

Both the men's and women's teams have suffered losses in each of the four rounds played so far.

On Wednesday, the ladies were beaten 4-1 by regional kingpins Guyana who were in dominant form. Former All Jamaica Senior Women's Champion Brooke Burrowes won her match but her teammates Tracy Binnie, Lauren Mahfood, Alyssa Mullings and Karen Mullings were unable to replicate her success.

It was a similar situation yesterday when the ladies faced Barbados, with Burrowes delivering a victory while the other players fought hard, but lost.

Caribbean men's champion Chris Binnie posted a win in the men's competition yesterday but it was not nearly enough to prevent an overall loss to Barbados.

Binnie's teammates Joey Levy, Warren Burrowes, Bruce Burrowes and Kyle Chin all found the going rough and suffered defeats at the hands of their Barbadian opponents.

The Barbadian contingent also beat Jamaica 5-0 in the veterans' category.

Both the men's and women's teams will take on Trinidad and Tobago next and each will face a must-win situation in order to qualify for the semi-finals.

The Jamaicans will be looking to rebound but the Trinidadians are expected to put up a hard fight in front of their home supporters. The 2012 Senior CASA Championships will run until August 26.
