Torrential rain ruins U-19 fourth round

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC):

Torrential rain has forced the abandonment of the fourth round of matches in the Regional Under-19 one-day championship yesterday.

Not a ball was bowled at any of the three venues as the bad weather, associated with the passage of Tropical Storm Isaac, swept across the island late Wednesday night and continued into the morning.

All three venues were left waterlogged, erasing any chance of play.

Three-day champions Barbados were scheduled to take on Leeward Islands at Bayfield while Trinidad and Tobago were set for a clash with Windward Islands.

At Pine Basin, table leaders Guyana were facing off against ICC Americas.

Guyana head the standings with 18.5 points with Barbados second on 17.5 points and T&T third on 11.5 points. Jamaica (9.5), ICC Americas (8.5), the Windwards (7) and the Leewards (4.5) comprise the remainder of the standings.

In the fifth round of matches starting on Saturday, Guyana and Barbados will do battle at Foursquare Oval in a top-of-the-table affair while T&T engage Jamaica at the Banks Brewery Sports Club.

Windward Islands will take on ICC Americas at LIME Sports Club.
