A Montego Bay vendor who stole a wig from a beauty supply store is to return to the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court for sentencing on October 24. Andrea Chambers, 39, of Coral Gardens in Montego Bay, pleaded guilty to simple larceny when she appeared in court on Wednesday. The court was told that earlier this month, Chambers stole a wig from a store at the Sunshine Plaza in Montego Bay. She was subsequently caught, arrested and charged. "Yes, I did it," Chambers readily admitted when she pleaded to the charge in court. "Is this the first time you are coming here for an offence?" asked Resident Magistrate Sandria Wong-Small. "Yes, ma'am, and me not going to make it happen again. Me have six children, and is true me don't have nobody to help me," Chambers replied in a trembling voice, as she gave her explanation for the theft. "So how wig going to help them? It's not food, it can't eat. I find it very difficult to be sorry for you," Wong-Small answered tartly. "Sentencing is set for October 24. I'm requesting a social enquiry report, and also your records. Your fingerprints will also be taken," the RM added. |
