New court date for woman on fraud charge

A woman who has been charged with three counts of forgery is to return to court on November 9, at which point a social-enquiry report is to be ready on the matter.

Hyacinth Ford-Dryden is charged with forgery, uttering forged documents and being in possession of forged documents. She pleaded guilty to all charges when she appeared in court on Wednesday. She was ordered fingerprinted by the Senior RM.

The court heard that Ford-Dryden orchestrated the production of an adoption certificate, which she claimed was lawfully issued to her by the Registrar General's Department. She then took the forged document to an embassy in St Andrew, in the hopes of getting a visa. It was also revealed in court that several dates and other important information on the adoption certificate had been changed to reflect fictitious information.

Subsequently, Resident Magistrate Georgiana Fraser told the accused woman to return in early November when she will also know her fate.
