Lighthouse Basic School gets a facelift

When the new school year begins next Monday, students at the Lighthouse Basic School will enter a newly reconstructed facility that will greatly enhance their well-being and comfort while learning.

Renovation was made possible with assistance given from the ICWI Group Foundation.

The role the foundation played was outlined in a release sent to THE WEEKEND STAR.

According to the release, the foundation, concerned with the perilous conditions at the institution, rebuilt the school to the highest safety specifications.

social responsibility

The ICWI Group Foundation was established in 1988 by the ICWI Group of Companies to organise, administer, develop and manage the group's social responsibility, and philanthropy.

The foundation provides an organised approach to ICWI's "giving" which currently is focused on early-childhood education, youth development, sports, and community programmes which build young leadership.

The Foundation's mission established in 1988 remains as then, meeting 21st-century leadership challenges through education.

The leadership of ICWI and the ICWI Group Foundation regard the investment of time and money as an investment in development - first, of the organisations and communities involved, and then of the nation as a whole.

The foundation not only responds to challenges which confront the Jamaican society by initiating solutions, but works in partnership with the public and other private-sector groups to develop creative solutions to both local and national challenges.
