Guardsman gives back-to-school assistance

Thirty-five children who will be attending high schools will receive back-to-school assistance with the awarding of scholarships by Guardsman Limited, ahead of the new school term in September.

As the company observes 35 years of service to Jamaica this September, the 35 students who are children of guards employed to the security firm will receive the scholarships as part of the celebratory activities.

The award ceremony will take place today about 10 a.m. at the security firm's head office.

A release sent to THE WEEKEND STAR indicated that Guardsman Limited began its scholarship programme in 1996 with the desire to contribute to the wider needs and development of children.

This scholarship programme was designed to assist the children of staff members and security contractors who are entering high school for the first time after completing primary school and achieving success in their GSAT examinations.

Over the years, Guardsman Limited has awarded close to 200 scholarships and continues to support the academic well-being of students entering high school.
