|
Up to late last night police and fire personnel were still unable to say the cause of a fire that destroyed an 11-apartment concrete dwelling owned by the Sugar Industry of Jamaica yesterday morning. The building was destroyed by fire of unknown origin in Lionel Town, Clarendon. Loss is estimated at $6.5 million. Contacted last night, investigators say they were still probing the fire, and could not give a definite cause. The Lionel Town police had reported that about 2 a.m., there was a sudden loss of electricity in a section of the house and smoke was seen and the building then became engulfed in flames. It is further reported that the police were alerted and two units from the Lionel Town Fire Department extinguished the blaze. |
