A first impression of Karl could lead a person to think that he is just another successful person going about his business, but a first conversation about why he gives back to the Cassava Piece Initiative will reveal his passion about giving back to the community.

Karl Kirkland is the chairman and coordinator of the Cassava Piece Initiative, a community policing project in conjunction with the Constant Spring Police Youth Club.

Some of the current projects are the Cassava Piece skills seminar, a spiritual seminar for single females, leadership training, sports day and football competition for the community and various youth intervention programmes in partnership with the German association through their foundation called HELP.

Karl initiated the caregiver initiative for the Cassava Piece/Whitehall community providing hot meals once a month. He is 43 years old and is passionate about making a difference in a community where that's all it takes to make change in the right direction.
