Kenneth Swaby is the current president of the Gordon Town Progressive Association located in the community of the same name.
Kenneth is 44 years old and employed by the Goodman Enterprises Ltd. He says the community action group arose out of them needing some organisation for a domino team that used to travel and play other teams. However, the Gordon Town Progressive Association has made a considerable impact on the lives of the elderly and less fortunate throughout the St Andrew community. "We have made donations to the Mustard Seed Community in Gordon Town," Kenneth says. He also said that they are involved in caring for the elderly during the Christmas period. The group has also aided in fixing the community centre. The Gordon Town Progressive Association has been in existence for the past five years and they normally meet on Thursday evenings to discuss which philanthropic project they should undertake. The association is maintained by fundraisers and the payment of dues, Kenneth added. |
