Lorna Malcolm

This mother of two is determined to give back to her alma mater of Patrick Town Primary in the community of Surprise, Manchester, in a meaningful way.

As such, she decided to implement a fencing and auditorium building project for her former school. A shopkeeper, Lorna said that she and her children are past students of the institution, and it was the right time to give back and this was her primary motivation for the project which started some three years ago.

She remembered seeing the students standing outside in the rain for devotion and therefore she embarked upon raising funds for an auditorium. The school fence is 60 per cent complete by her account, while funds have been raised for the auditorium. A committee is in charge of the building of the fence for the primary school and they usually meet to decide on a work day, which usually falls on a Saturday or if a national holiday comes up.
