Canadian national to do time for ganja |

|
A Canadian national who attempted to export 9.6 ounces of ganja from the island to the North American country was fined and sentenced to prison in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. Charged with possession of, dealing in, and taking steps to export ganja is Dennis Barries. Barries was fined $1,000 or six months for possession of, $1,200 or six months for dealing in, and $10,800 or six months for taking steps. Additionally, he was sentenced to six months in prison. A deportation order was also made by Resident Magistrate Georgiana Fraser who advised the defendant to seek help after he revealed to her that the contraband was to help with his sleeping disorder. |
