Man charged with unlawful possession of property remanded

A man who told the court that he knew nothing about an incident with which he has been charged was remanded when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

He is Omar Reid, who has been charged with unlawful possession of property.

Reid, who pleaded not guilty, is to return to court on September 11 for trial.

Allegations are that on the day of the incident, Marie Williams' house was broken into and several items stolen.

It is reported that items stolen from the house include a flat-screen television, a laptop computer, two digital cameras, a playstation and $4,230.

The court heard that Reid was found with several of the stolen items in his possession.

"Your honour, it was a party me did a keep and mi went to buy some CD and police grab on to to me and said that I break into house. Your honour, the police did even want to charge me for my own phone," the accused said in court.
