St Andrew businessman Bruce Bicknell has been charged with a second offence in the high-profile case involving co-accused Senior Superintendent of Police James Forbes and West Portland Member of Parliament Daryl Vaz. Bicknell, who was charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice last month, faces an additional charge of bribery. Forbes is also charged with perverting the course of justice. Vaz has been charged with breaches of the Corruption and Prevention Act. bribe The case relates to the alleged attempt by Bicknell to bribe Sergeant Jubert Llewellyn and the alleged efforts of Forbes and Vaz to have the businessman freed. The three had also been granted $250,000 bail. Bicknell's attorney, Peter Champagnie, yesterday successfully had his client's bail conditions amended to allow for him to travel to Florida, between September 14 and 18. As a result, Senior Resident Magistrate Georgiana Fraser ruled that his travel documents be returned to him to facilitate this activity. He is to return all travel documents on September 19, at which point the restrictive conditions existing before will be reinforced. All three men are to return to court on October 3, when the case will again be mentioned. |
