Shouts of praise and exaltations to God permeated the open air of the second staging of the LIME-sponsored back-to- school edition of Jesus Party, held at the Emmanuel Apostolic Church, Braeton, Portmore, St Catherine, recently.

Templa Campbell, chairman of the Youth and Children's Ministry of the church stated, "the youth ministry of the church decided to have a back-to-school send-off for the community, which is customary, but we wanted to include the Jesus Party crew," Campbell said.

Danny Brownie, through his Main Street Music company, as well as the organiser behind the event, saw it fit to stage such an event, with young Christians in mind and the need for success in the new academic year.

Assistant project coordinator of Jesus Party, Khalice Bradshaw, seemed to echo Brownie's sentiment when she stated: "it was the promotion of young Christian development. We wanted to capture a Portmore connection and established a partnership with Emmanuel Apostolic Church, Portmore, to accomplish this."

She continued, "everyone saw it fit to come together to face the school year afresh. Young people can also still feel good to be Christian in this day and age," she said.

Regional Head of Corporate Communications for Lime, Kalando Wilmoth, stated, "LIME is signed on to support the series, so wherever they go, we go. We support all aspects of Jamaican culture, and religion is a big part of our culture. Young people are excited to express their Christianity, and it is a part of what makes us distinct, - our strong religious beliefs," said Wilmoth.

During the concert, which was emceed by Ramon Davis, the loud one, gospel music was provided by various gospel DJs, including FAME FM's resident Dj Marlon Young. There were selections from Papa San's Glory God and Kirk Franklin's Stomp and Revolution, among others, whipping the crowd into a praise frenzy. Artistes who would later grace the stage included Sean Christian and DJ Excellence, among others.

LIME phones were also on sale and draw-string bags and other LIME-branded merchandise were given away during the concert, which ended with an altar call.
