New trial date for man charged with unlawful wounding

WESTERN BUREAU:

The ongoing quarrel between an Amity Hall, St James, man and his daughter's boyfriend continued in court on Wednesday with the revelation that the son-in-law recently attacked his girlfriend's father.

Darron Brown, who was initially the complainant in an unlawful wounding case against Chester Montague in June, was brought before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court for allegedly wounding his attacker.

However, the details of the new allegations were not given in court.

"What is the complainant to you?" Resident Magistrate Natalie Hart-Hines asked Brown about Montague.

"Well, you can say me 'deh' (in a relationship) wid him daughter," Brown replied. "The two of you have to keep the peace, so if you see him, you walk away," Hart-Hines reasoned.

"Well, I live on a next street from him," said Brown.

"Even if you live on the next street, you are still too close to him," the RM told him.

Montague, who was absent from court, was previously on $200,000 bail for allegedly stabbing Brown in the back of the neck on December 15, 2011. It is said that Brown had intervened in a dispute between Montague and his daughter at a shop in the Guilsbro area in Amity Hall. That matter is scheduled to return to court on November 7.

"He (Montague) is the one telling lies and he's not showing up," argued Brown. "The officer would not have arrested you without seeing some kind of injury or medical certificate," RM Hart-Hines countered. Brown's matter was subsequently set for mention on September 26.
