Nephew charged for wounding uncle gets bail extended

An uncle and a nephew appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Monday where the latter answered to a charge of wounding with intent.

Charged with wounding with intent is Lamar Miller who had his bail extended until October 2.

Miller also had to submit his fingerprints to the police.

The Crown is alleging that on the day of the incident, Miller stabbed his uncle repeatedly with a knife and cut him with a machete.

The defendant identified the complainant as his uncle who encouraged him to migrate from the country to the Corporate Area to work for him.

According to the defendant, the relationship between himself and the complainant soon broke down and he was asked to leave his premises.

The defendant claims he obliged the complainant's request and packed his bags to leave but was warned by some female co-workers to be careful as the complainant was "up to something."

He said that warning proved to be ominous as the complainant tried to retrieve a machete to chop him as he walked away.

The defendant said his action was instinctive as he responded in self defence and got his hands on the machete first.

He claims the complainant tried to pull the weapon away from him and he was cut.

He said the complainant continued to make advances towards him so he stabbed him and ran off.
