Children must remain focused |

Political Ombudsman Bishop Herro Blair. - File A special call has been made by motivational speaker Herro Blair Jr for children to remain focused and ensure that they get a good education. He was guest speaker at a three-day children's convention at the Riverton Meadows Seventh-day Adventist Church, Kingston. Blair stressed that the children should pledge from early to be good citizens. He explained that being good citizens meant that they would always be on their best behaviour and do not get involved in any form of criminal activities. achieve their goals He said children should not feel inferior because they were from an inner-city community but should study hard because through education, they could achieve their goals in life. He advised the children to be polite and courteous at all times. The theme of the convention, which was put on by the Children's Ministry Department, was 'Shining Your Light For Jesus' and Blair told the children that the theme should be one of their daily guides. More than 300 children from various communities, including Riverton City, Callaloo Mews and Shanty, attended the convention from August 20 to 22 and were addressed by different speakers on etiquette, hygiene and safety. The climax of the convention was on Saturday afternoon of September 1 when some of the parents and guardians came out to report on the positive impact that the convention had on their children. |
