TENANT GETS NOTICE FOR FILTH - Landlord, visitor clash over pit |

PAULA GORDON, Staff Reporter A dispute between a tenant and a landlord over the amount of faeces going into a septic pit has left several persons talking in one inner-city community. Information reaching THE STAR is that the bitter dispute took place on the weekend. However, days after the incident unfolded, THE STAR caught up with several residents who were still commenting on the matter at a bar in the community. "Mi neva know say man coulda cuss and fight ova dem deh ting deh," one resident from the Kingston 8 community said. Our news team was told that the dispute which was brewing for some time escalated after a pregnant female tenant invited her boyfriend to the premises to spend the night with her. According to an alleged eyewitness, who said he lives in the yard, "The landlord mussi get word say people a sleep ova deh and bout 5 o' clock the next morning him go knock dem up, and start to cuss say him nuh want so much people ina him yaad, cuz the pit cyan tek so much waste." argument According to the eyewitness, an argument developed and the woman's boyfriend came to her assistance. "Di boyfriend come out and tell di owner say him coulda deal, him nah lef cuz a him a pay di rent," the eyewitness said. It is alleged that at that point a fracas developed between the men. "Di owner go up inna the boy-friend face and all di boyfriend a tell him fi back off him nah move, so him jus shot him a box and di two a dem start fi fight. Trust mi, it did so funny, but me and two more man affi rush outa wi place and go part dem." THE STAR has learnt that since the incident the woman was given 30 days notice to vacate the premises, despite the fact that she moved in only two months ago. The residents also informed THE STAR that it is not the first time the landlord has given a tenant notice because of visitors. A woman, who claimed to be the owner of the bar, told our news team, "Him have a problem, one a my friend used to live down there but him gi har notice, and tell har say him only advertise fi single people live a him place." In the meantime, when checks were made with the Constant Spring police, a duty officer said he was not aware of the incident, and that no report had been made. |
