The police yesterday recovered two firearms following an attempted robbery in Mandeville, Manchester. The two men accused of the attempted robbery remain in custody at this hour. They were arrested by cops who were early on the scene of the incident on North Race Course Road. According to reports, the men attempted to rob the owner of a car wash located on North Race Course Road, after he completed a transaction at a bank at the Manchester Shopping Centre. The men who were on foot reportedly confronted the businessman as he was driving back to his car wash. The police say the robbers demanded that the businessman roll down the window of his car and when he refused, they opened fire on the vehicle injuring him. Within minutes, the police were on the scene and they too were reportedly fired on. The police say there was a gun battle after which the two men were held, one suffering from a gunshot wound, and the weapons seized. The businessman has been hospitalised in a stable condition. The police have since established that the robbers are not from the parish. |
