Police stabbed and service pistol stolen

Apolice constable was attacked, stabbed and his firearm stolen on University Crescent in Mona, St Andrew, on Friday night.

Reports from the Papine police are that about 10:30 p.m., the policeman was on his way to visit a friend, when two men, one armed with a handgun and another with a knife, approached him and stabbed him. The men then took his firearm, and made their escape. The officer was taken to the hospital where he was admitted in stable condition.

Investigations continue.

Gun found in church roof

Lawmen attached to the Elletson Road Police Station yesterday seized a firearm at a church on Windward Road, Kingston 16.

Reports are that between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., police were on operation during which several premises were searched, including a church compound. A firearm - a M12 9mm pistol with serial number 12-002384, was found in the roof of the church building.

No one was arrested in connection with the find.

Investigations are ongoing.
