Juvenile arrested for illegal possession of firearm |

Andre Williams, STAR Writer A juvenile is now in custody following his arrest and subsequent seizure of an illegal firearm by police officers attached to St Andrew South Division on Saturday morning. The teenager, whose identity is being withheld pending further investigation, is said to be 16 years of age. Information from the Hunts Bay police said that at 2:48 a.m., members of the street crime unit were on patrol in the Penwood Crescent area when the juvenile was spotted riding a bicycle. Allegations are that upon seeing the police, the young man reportedly began acting suspiciously. Further reports are that the teenager was accosted and searched during which a 9mm semi-automatic pistol was taken from him. THE STAR was told the teen was taken into custody following the discovery. The Hunts Bay police said yesterday that investigation is ongoing. |
