Bus driver involved in crash still on the run |

Crystal Harrison, Staff Reporter The driver of the Toyota Coaster bus, which was involved in the fatal crash along Half-Way Tree Road in St. Andrew on Monday evening remains on the run. THE STAR understands that investigators are searching for the man who was operating the bus at the time of the crash. In addition, the cops say they want to question the conductor of the bus as they try to determine the circumstances leading to the accident. Dead is 18-year-old Mellisa Thompson of Queensway, Willodene, St Catherine. The incident occurred about 5:30 p.m.as several persons were making their way along a pedestrian crossing in front the Victoria Mutual Building Society. Thompson who was reportedly on the pedestrian crossing, died on the spot. A total of four other persons were injured in the accident, including passengers on the bus. THE STAR understands that so far, the cops investigation has confirmed that the man, who was employed to drive the bus was not the one in the driver's seat at the time of the crash. It is reported that the Toyota Coaster bus, which plies the Lawrence Tavern to downtown Kingston route, veered off the road to avoid colliding with a vehicle which was in front of it. |
