Portmore man charged with carnal abuse

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A Portmore man charged with carnal abuse was granted bail when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court recently.

The man was granted bail after his lawyer Pierre Roger, made a strenuous application. Rogers told the court that his client was a victim of circumstances.

"Your Honour, he is here because he tried to straighten out the complainant who had received a text on her phone which had sexual content," Rogers said.

He told the court it was an elderly sibling who influenced the complainant to report that she was sexually assaulted a year ago.

Resident Magistrate Simone Maddix then granted bail to the accused on condition that he reports on Saturdays to the Portmore Police Station (known as 100-man).

The matter is scheduled to be mentioned again on December 11.
