A press conference is to be held today for an update to be provided on the investigations of the police into the alleged rape of the five females in Irwin Point St James, recently.

THE STAR had been informed that the two men taken into custody for the alleged sexual assault of the females had been positively identified yesterday in an identification parade.

The men who have been in custody since last week have not yet been charged.

gunpoint

An eight-year-old girl and four other members of her family were all raped at gunpoint on Monday, September 24 at approximately 10:30 p.m.

According to the police, the family's ordeal lasted for more than two hours after two men invaded their home.

Police reports at the time indicate that the men held up one member of the family, and threatened to kill her unless she opened a door and let them inside.

The men then proceeded to rob the family of cellular phones, cash and jewellery.

The rapes sparked national outcry and led to public protest against sex crimes.

Head of the Constabulary Communication Network, Karl Angell, could not be reached for comment up to press time last night.
