Cops hunting men involved in shoot-out

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

The Point Hill police in St Catherine are looking for a group of men who engaged them in a shoot-out on a cell site in the area on Tuesday.

Reports are that about 10:30 p.m., the police got a call that men were stealing gas oil from a site at Kentish. A team responded to the call and upon their arrival the men started to fire at them. The police took cover and returned the fire, and the men escaped in bushes.

A search of the area found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he was admitted in serious condition.

It was revealed that in recent times, thieves have been plaguing the cell site.

"The problem is that the man dem target the area and steal wire, metal and gas oil. This shows that they are getting very brazen," a resident said.

The Star was informed that the criminals even tore down a portion of the site about two months ago.
