Bicknell, Vaz, Forbes case gets new date

The high-profile case involving businessman Bruce Bicknell, Member of Parliament for West Portland, Daryl Vaz, and Senior Superintendent of Police James Forbes has been adjourned until October 25. The matter was put off when it came up for mention in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. A trial date is expected to be set when the matter comes up for mention.

Meanwhile, it was announced that the legal team representing Bruce Bicknell will be bolstered by Queens Counsel K.D. Knight in the bribery case.

All attorneys representing the three men brought to light that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has made full disclosure of all the evidence in their possessions.

In the meantime, the attorney representing Bicknell requested that his client's bail conditions be varied once again to allow for travel between October 5 and 14, after which the court's restrictions will be reimposed.

The case in which all three men are charged relates to the alleged bribing of Sergeant Jubert Llewellyn by the businessman and the other men's reported attempts to have Bicknell cleared of any wrongdoing.

Forbes and Bicknell are charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice, while Vaz has been charged with breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act.
