Slain cop to be laid to rest

SHELDON WILLIAMS, STAFF REPORTER

Detective Corporal Warren Campbell who was gunned down by unknown assailants near his home in Patrick City on September 20 will be laid to rest on October 14.

The cop, who was attached to the Organised Crime Investigation Division, will be remembered at a funeral service at the Seventh-day Church Of God in Darlin Pen, Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Details from the Duhaney Park police are that the policeman had just been taken home from work by his colleagues.

Reports are that the lawman went back outside, reportedly to speak with a woman, when a group of men drove up in a car and opened fire, hitting him multiple times in his upper body.

The corporal was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

It was also reported that the female companion was not harmed during the fatal attack.

The police are asking anyone with information to come forward as their investigation continues.
