Rasbert Turner, Portmore Star Writer A Portmore man who robbed a woman of her cellular phone was granted a one-year probation order for the offence. When Carlos Grey appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court recently, he pleaded guilty. Attorney-at-law Michael Jordon made a strenuous plea of mitigation on his client's behalf. "Your Honour, he is still in school and deserves to be a productive member of society. Your Honour, he is not beyond redemption," Jordon pleaded with the RM. The court heard that on July 13 about 1:30 p.m., the complainant was walking along West Trade Way in Portmore. It was heard that she attempted to put her BlackBerry cellular phone in her bag when Grey grabbed on to her hand. It was further heard that a struggle developed between both parties. During the struggle, the phone fell. The accused grabbed the phone and ran away. He was accosted by Special Corporal Alvado Francis and taken into custody. Following a report and subsequent investigations, Grey was later charged with larceny.
