Stone Love's Geefus. - File

Stir It Up old school party, held at the New Mas Camp National Stadium, pulled hundreds of patrons from their homes despite the threat of rain.

The STAR team arrived during the juggling of the veteran Stone Love sound system, as the slick talking Geefus had patrons paying full attention as he introduced some of the most popular songs from the 80s and 90s.

Songs like You Sexy Thing by Hot Chocolate and Rock the Boat by Hue Corporation, had patrons grooving to the timeless beat.

Several patrons could be seen modelling vintage fashion, with hats, boots and even bell foot pants which seemed to be a favourite.

Kurt Riley took over at midnight and executed his role well. The DJ skilfully took the event to a next level via a set laced with good music and no talking.

With songs such as Big Ship by Freddie McGregor, Night Nurse by Gregory Isaacs and Junior Reid's One Blood, the DJ could do no wrong and patrons responded to each of his selections in a positive manner.

After teasing patrons with Dennis Brown's Revolution and Tenor Saw's Pumpkin Belly, Kurt Riley cruised into the dancehall segment going for songs like Mud Up by Super Cat and I Will Survive by Papa San.

At one point the dance floor was transformed, resembling a scene from a revivalist ceremony, as the DJ began to play Pocomaina Day by Lovindeer and Admiral Bailey's God Pickney.

The pop segment was one of the most notable for the night due to the comedic presence of the Jamaican Michael Jackson. Dressed in shades, black pants and a glittering shirt, Michael Jackson danced up a storm in the middle of the dance floor and had patrons in a daze as he attempted the popular Moon Walk dance move.

Detox was provided by Blue 24 restaurant, and they dished out jerk pork, roast fish, soup, bammy and jerk chicken for patrons.

The event was sponsored by Rough Rider, Vitamalt, Campari and Stones Original Ginger Wine.
