Rasbert Turner, Star Writer A St Catherine man who allegedly stabbed another to death after a physical confrontation was freed in the St Catherine Circuit Court yesterday. Mattis was freed after an eyewitness failed to identify him as the one who had allegedly done the stabbing. Dead is Andre 'Fyah' Thompson, labourer, of Job Lane, Spanish Town, St Catherine. The Crown led evidence that in 2009, the accused and the deceased had a dispute which turned into a fight. Thompson was later seen running with blood coming from a wound on his upper body. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. An investigation was launched which resulted in the accused being sought for murder. The accused reportedly ran away from the area and was not held until one year later. High Court judge Sharon George (acting) presided over the matter. The accused was represented by attorneys-at-law Courtney Maxwell and Earl Hamilton. |
