GUNMEN SHOOT THREE IN ROBBERY

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

Hundreds of commuters were left stranded in Spanish Town, St Catherine, last night following a robbery in the town centre.

All vehicles were terminated at the Sagicor Shopping Centre as police cardoned off the area.

The Star learnt that about 7:55 p.m. a businessman was closing his wholesale when gunmen entered and robbed him of an undetermined sum of money. The man was hit repeatedly in his head which bled profusely. An alarm was sounded and the robbers jumped on a motor cycle before firing shots which hit two persons.

One of those shot succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while the others were admitted. As news of the man's death spread, businesses drew their shutters and most public passenger vehicles also withdrew their services. The St Catherine Major Investigation Task Force and the Spanish Town police are investigating. Up to press time, the man was still unidentified.
