Two men and a teenager, who have been charged in connection with the kidnapping of a student from the Mount Alvernia Preparatory school in Montego Bay, were sentenced in the St James Circuit Court on Wednesday. Jonathan Mitchell, 23, was sentenced to six years and 22-year-old Trevon Tomlinson was sentenced to two years in prison. A teenager, who was also implicated in the kidnapping, was given a three-year probationary sentence. They were charged with child-stealing. Jenise Regisford, the fourth accused, pleaded not guilty and will go to trial on December 4. It is reported that on May 3, 2011, a three-year-old boy was kidnapped from the Mount Alvernia Preparatory and Kindergarten School. The child was discovered missing when his mother turned up at the school and was told that a man had already collected the child. Following investigations by the police, the child was found in Manchester. |
