Andre Williams, STAR Writer The St Catherine North police now have in their possession an illegal firearm which was wrestled from a gunman during a robbery in Linstead on Saturday, THE STAR has learnt. The incident which unfolded at 7:45 p.m. on Saith Avenue in Linstead, St Catherine, turned up a .357 Magnum revolver containing several live rounds. Information reaching THE STAR is that two men, one armed with a gun, pounced upon a group of residents who were sitting beside the roadway and started to rob them of several items. Our news team was told that a member of the group reportedly resisted the thug and disarmed him during a struggle which ensued between the two. A report from the Constabulary Communication Network said the two hoodlums fled the scene after the firearm was wrestled away, allegedly escaping with an electronic device that belong to a female that was held up. Our news team gathered that following the incident, the police were alerted and the firearm was handed over. Further reports indicate that the drama unfolded in front of a church while service was in progress, however, that has not been confirmed. The Linstead police told THE STAR that investigation into the matter was ongoing. |
