PUBLIC ADVISORY

The police are advising that a curfew imposed on Tuesday will remain in effect until 6 p.m. today.

On Tuesday, the police imposed a curfew across all areas of the island. Some of the areas affected were Montego Bay, Lucea, Savanna-la-Mar, Kingston, St Andrew and other parishes.

Last night, the police issued a release reminding citizens that the curfew remained in place across all town centres and several other communities in the island. The police said all persons must remain within their premises, unless they have been authorised by the member of the security forces who is enforcing the curfew.

They said citizens are being warned not to gather at shops or other such community spaces, as anyone found loitering on the roadways will be detained.

Motorists too are being warned to stay off the streets. Only emergency units will be allowed to traverse the nation's thoroughfares at this time.

During the hours of the curfews all persons within the affected areas are required to remain within their premises unless otherwise authorised in writing by the member of the security forces in charge of enforcing the curfews.
