Point-of-sale machines mayhem |

SHELDON WILLIAMS, Staff Reporter There was discontent and mayhem at some businesses in the New Kingston business district yesterday as point-of-sale (POS) machines were out of service forcing some customers to be turned away because of a cash only policy. THE WEEKEND STAR observed several infuriated customers who were lucky enough to be allowed inside some fast food restaurants, asking for refunds as the cash only system led to a lengthy delay in the serving and waiting times. One female customer who claimed that she waited "forever" before she was handed her order at an outlet became further enraged after she realised that she was served the wrong order even after the lengthy wait. Other customers in the same restaurant were seen asking for refunds in chorus, as staff tried feverishly to attend to everyone. At a neighbouring restaurant, customers were advised on entry that only cash purchases could be facilitated . Similarly, customers to a service station mart were greeted with a closed door, being monitored by a worker who informed that they had to wait to allow the staff adequate time to process those already inside as POS machines were down. |
