Rasbert Turner, Star Writer Up to press time last night, investigators from the St Catherine South division were yet to make a breakthrough into yesterday's jail break. Those on the run are Jomo Burnett, 31, of Gregory Park, St Catherine, who is charged with illegal possession of firearm; Oshane Thomas, 34, of Braeton, Portmore, St Catherine, who is on an illegal possession of firearm and ammunition rap; Amir Hanson, 18, of Portmore Villa, who is charged with shooting with intent. Also charged are Andrew Edwards, 19, who is charged with robbery with aggravation, and murder accused, 33-year-old Marvin Barnett of Spanish Town, St Catherine. Reports are that personnel manning the cells made a check about 4:50 a.m. yesterday and found grilles in the ventilation area cut. Further checks revealed five prisoners were missing. A search launched with the assistance of an helicopter in trying to recapture the prisoners proved futile. In recent time, overcrowding has been a concern. However, the police had implemented regular search at the facility. Investigations in the matter continue and the police are asking persons not to harbour the fugitives. |
