Man charged for assault and destruction of property |

A man who pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman and destroying her property was fined $20,000 or eight months' imprisonment when he appeared in Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday. Resident Magistrate Georgianna Fraser passed the sentence on Mitiyah Walsh who was charged with assault and malicious destruction of property. The court was told that Walsh assaulted the complainant then damaged windows on her premises. When the matter was called up, the complainant told the court that Walsh had already replaced the damaged windows and, as such, she was not willing to continue, however, RM Fraser was not satisfied. Walsh was fined $10,000 or four months' imprisonment on each charge. . The accused requested time to pay and was subsequently given two weeks to pay with surety. RM Fraser then ordered that Walsh be fingerprinted. |
