JPS worker electrocuted

André Williams, Star Writer

The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is mourning the loss of a member of its contractor team who died yesterday evening as a result of being electrocuted, THE STAR has learnt.

Information gathered by our news desk is that a team of workers was working yesterday to restore power to customers in Discovery Bay, St Ann, when the incident occurred.

THE STAR understands also that another member of the team received electrical burns in the incident.

Head of Corporate Communications for the power company, Winsome Callum, when contacted, told THE STAR that investigations were ongoing and as soon as more information was made available, the details will be provided.

The Discovery Bay police could not assist in this regard as our news team was told they were not aware of the incident.

The officer said, "No one at all at the station knows about this incident ... In fact, we were made aware of it while watching the news. The officers who were here for the day were not aware either."
