Barkey's funeral set for Friday, November 9

The funeral for slain dancehall artiste Wayne Hamilton, more popularly known as Captain Barkey, has been arranged for Friday, November 9, at the Portmore Missionary Church in Bayside, Portmore.

THE STAR received confirmation through a close family friend who has been assisting with the proceedings.

Barkley's body was scheduled to arrive on the rock this past weekend, following which the designated funeral home Brite Lite would handle subsequent arrangements.

THE STAR understands that following the church service, Barkey's body will be laid to rest at Up Park Camp in St Andrew, the headquarters of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF).

Captain Barkey once served as a member of the JDF.

Barkey, 50, was shot to death in a parking lot of a Bronx, New York, motel on Saturday, October 13.

NYPD police reported then that he and his 38-year-old lover Tracy Bennett were about to leave the motel when a gunman, later identified as 42-year-old Haitian national Joseph Kernizan, shot them fatally.

Barkey, one half of the comedic entertaining duo Captain Barkey and Wickerman, was best known for the hit songs, Bun Fi Bun and Go Go Wine which stood atop charts in the 1990s.
