Rasbert Turner, Star Writer A St Catherine man who allegedly killed his three-month-old child three years ago pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the St Catherine Circuit Court yesterday. Orville Brown, 24-year-old, of Gutters district, St Catherine, was answering to the death of his son Adrian. When the case came up before Justice Jennifer Straw, Brown, who was answering to a murder charge, pleaded guilty to the lesser offence. It was revealed that about 12:20 p.m., on September 10, 2009, the infant was found dead with Brown standing next to the body. The infant's mother and Brown had a dispute, she went outside the house and heard the child screamed. When she re-entered the house, the baby laid motionless on the floor. A report was made to the Old Harbour police and an investigation by Detective Corporal Dennis Davis led to his arrest. A post-mortem report later revealed the death was caused by a blunt force object to the head. Brown who was represented by attorney-at-law Roy Stewart is to be sentenced on December 4. |
