Inmate blames cops

An inmate of the Gun Court Remand Centre who is accused of wounding two police officers labelled the cops as the aggressors in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Charged with unlawful wounding is Andre Lewis, who was remanded in custody until November 26.

The Crown is alleging that about 7 a.m. on the day of the incident, two cops entered Lewis' cell as he had a court appearance on the day.

However, while inside, an argument developed between the cops and the prisoner which ended with the defendant using his fist to attack the men.

In contrast, Lewis said the cops attacked him without provocation and he instinctively defended himself.
