JPS hopes to complete restoration activities this weekend

The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) has issued an advisory on its Facebook page stating that they hope to complete restoration activities by this weekend.

Some customers islandwide are still without electricity following the passage of Hurricane Sandy.

Affected communities are in St Ann, St Mary, St Thomas and Portland.

The JPS posted that "Our restoration crews are continuing restoration efforts. We hope to complete all restoration activities by this weekend."

The JPS has also stated, "Despite the restoration of power to the main power lines in some communities, there are several customers who may still be without electricity due to damage to their service wires or other localised problems on the system".

"We will be focusing our efforts on getting supply to these customers today (yesterday). To assist the process, we are asking persons who are still without service to contact our customer care centre at 1-888-225-5577 or 1-888-935-5577," read the post on the JPS page.
