Man accused of beheading wife to return to court

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A man who is accused of beheading his wife seven years ago is to return to the St Catherine Circuit Court in March for trial.

He is Richard Duhaney, 44, technician, of a Portmore address in the parish.

When the matter was called up before Justice Jennifer Straw in court on Tuesday, Duhaney pleaded not guilty. It was then decided that his bail would be extended until next year.

Allegations are that in March 2005, the headless body of Velma Duhaney, the wife of the accused, was found in Waugh Hill, Sligoville, St Catherine.

An investigation done by Detective Inspector Derrick Ball led to the arrest of Duhaney.

Duhaney who has made numerous court appearances, remains adamant that he is innocent.
