Four implicated in fraud get bail extended

Four persons who have been implicated in a major credit card fraud had their bails extended in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

They are Chevar Beecher, Theonia Godfrey, Christiana Gordon and Richard Nelson who have been charged with several counts of forgery, unauthorised access to computer programme or data, obtaining goods by false pretence, uttering false documents and attempting to obtain goods.

When the matter was called up for plea and case management hearing yesterday, it was put off until January 24, as the file is incomplete.

Allegations are that on July 14, all four accused persons purchased close to $400,000 worth of items at a haberdashery in downtown Kingston, before making another purchase of $80,000 of phones and accessories at another store in the Sovereign Centre.

The court heard that they were all nabbed after personnel at the Sovereign Centre store became suspicious of their transaction and alerted security.
