Body found at Victoria Pier

The body of an unidentified man was fished from the sea at Victoria Pier in downtown Kingston yesterday.

He is believed to have been in his 40s and is of dark complexion, medium build and about 173 centimetres (5 feet 8 inches) tall. He was dressed in a multicoloured shirt and a pair of khaki pants.

Reports from the City Centre police are that about 8:20 a.m., citizens saw the body in the water and alerted the police, who responded and removed the body from the water. The scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue for post-mortem.

The City Centre police are investigating.

HOME-MADE SHOTGUN SEIZED

The St Thomas police seized a home-made shotgun and one round of ammunition during an operation at White Horses in the parish yesterday. No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.

Reports from the Morant Bay police are that about 8 a.m., a team of police officers conducted an operation in the area, during which premises were searched and the shotgun loaded with one 12-gauge cartridge was seized.

Investigations continue.
