Man accused of chopping uncle with soup bowl

A man accused of chopping his uncle with a soup bowl appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday to answer to the charge of assault.

Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm is Nkrumar Thaff, to which he entered a not guilty plea.

The court was told that the two family members had an argument and Thaff used a soup bowl to chop the complainant in his face causing damage to his top lip.

The matter was referred to mediation and both the complainant and Thaff agreed to try and settle the matter there, however, if they arrive at an agreed decision during that session or lack thereof, the two will return to court on January 15, when the matter will again be mentioned.

Thaff had his bail extended and his fingerprint taken by the police.
