Star Tell Me Pastor

Asking God for help

Dear Pastor,

I have always read your columns and I find your advice interesting. I am a bit stressed out sometimes knowing that I am a single mother of one and sometimes I can't make it. At times I think I am strong and I always look to God to comfort me. But I don't know how to pray and ask Him for things or help. When I am praying, I love to worship and give thanks, but I don't know how to ask for help because I know that He knows my problem.

Please help me with this because I would love to give Him my all and believe in Him.

Dear S.S.,

I am glad that you are a praying person. Jesus taught His disciples how to pray. Study that prayer carefully in Luke Chapter 11:2-4 and you can't go wrong. Talk to God as you talk to a friend. Just as how you ask a friend for help, ask God the same way.

Jesus has promised that anyone who prays and ask Him for the things that he/she needs, he will do it. Such promises are found in John 14:13-14, 15:7-8 and 16:23-24. God cannot lie, and He keeps His promises. So ask and it shall be given to you.
