A source close to the production team of the Tastee Talent Trail competition has revealed that there has been a breach of the rules by a contestant involved in this year's final eight.

The eight are scheduled to perform at tomorrow's show from which two persons are expected to be eliminated, sending six to the grand finals. It is not clear if the breach occurred recently, since the field has been reduced to its current eight, or earlier in the competition.

Be that as it may, the judges are now aware of a breach and, while the Star was not able to ascertain the name of the contestant or the particular breached, it is significant enough to warrant disqualification. Judges Amelia 'Milk' Sewell, Alaine Laughton and Oral Tracey will decide the fate of the contestant at tomorrow's semi-finals which begins at 6 p.m., at the Tastee car park in Cross Roads.

road to stardom

The eight - seven singers and a deejay - are competing for a place in the December 13 finals, where they hope to walk away with the top prize of $1 million and a start at what they hope will be the road to stardom.

Tomorrow's semi-finals, which is being billed as east vs west, will feature four contestants from the western section of the island as well as from the eastern section. These are; Jermaine Burford, Ozana Lindo, Dacia Smith, Jason Roberts, Renaldo Meikle, Anthony Clarke, Camilla Plunket and Shantel Leighton.

The 33-year-old contest, sponsored this year by Tastee, Pepsi, TVJ, FAME 95 FM, T- Shirt Express, Sparkles and Kosmo Car Rental prides itself on its transparency as well as unearthing some of the biggest names in local entertainment, among them, Beenie Man, Nadine Sutherland, Yellow Man, Cobra, Papa San, Mr Vegas, T.O.K., Diana Rutherford, Marvin Fishley, Brian and Tony Gold and Kelvin Dixon.
